Meet our team : Megan.
A Conversation with Megan Verburg, CEO of Passion Hospice
Interview by Stone, Social Media Manager at Passion Hospice
Hospice care isn’t just about medical treatment—it’s about dignity, compassion, and ensuring that every family receives the support they deserve during life’s most tender moments. At the heart of Passion Hospice is our CEO, Megan Verburg, a leader whose dedication to quality care has shaped the way we serve our community. Today, we sit down with Megan to explore her journey, philosophy, and the mission that drives Passion Hospice every day.
Stone: Megan, you’ve spent over 25 years in hospice care. What initially drew you to this field?
Megan: My journey into hospice was deeply personal. I cared for my own loved ones at the end of their lives, and through that experience, I saw firsthand what families truly need. It’s not just medical attention—it’s presence, understanding, and reassurance that they’re not alone. That experience shaped my lifelong commitment to ensuring hospice care is delivered with the utmost respect, dignity, and compassion.
Stone: Your leadership philosophy places a strong emphasis on presence and high standards. Can you share what that looks like in practice?
Megan: Absolutely. One of the things I say often is, “This is their only mom or dad.” That’s a guiding principle for us. Families trust us during one of life’s most vulnerable times, and we have a sacred responsibility to honor that trust. At Passion Hospice, we don’t just teach our values—we live them. That’s why I personally conduct ride-alongs with every team member. I want to see, firsthand, how we interact with families, how we listen, and how we show up—not just as healthcare providers but as compassionate companions in their journey.
Stone: What do you think sets Passion Hospice apart from other providers?
Megan: I’d say it’s our unwavering commitment to quality and genuine connection. Hospice care is not just about a service—it’s about the experience we create for families. Every interaction should reflect excellence. From the smallest detail to the way we support grieving families, we are relentless about providing the best possible care. That dedication has earned us trust and respect, and it’s why we do what we do.
Stone: What advice would you give to families who are navigating the decision to seek hospice care?
Megan: I’d encourage them to ask questions and ensure they feel truly supported. Hospice is not about giving up—it’s about embracing comfort, quality of life, and meaningful moments. The best hospice providers will listen, educate, and walk alongside families in every step. And most importantly, families should never feel rushed—these decisions should be made with confidence and trust.
Stone: As someone who has built Passion Hospice from the ground up, what keeps you motivated each day?
Megan: It’s the people. Every day, I see the impact we make. I witness the relief on families’ faces, the gentle care our team provides, and the moments of peace we help create. That’s what drives me. Knowing that we are truly changing lives—that’s what makes this work meaningful.
Passion Hospice is more than a provider. It’s a promise—to ensure that every patient and family receives compassionate care, dignity, and unwavering support. Under Megan’s leadership, we continue to set the standard for excellence in hospice care.
